Standard & Twain

Dedicacion

Regular price $199.00

Back in December (how long ago does THAT feel...?), Standard & Twain was proud to introduce to the world a new cigar brand called All Saints. That first cigar was a limited edition, pre-release called Solamente, and to say it was a success would be an understatement. It quickly became one of the most highly rated blind tasted cigars of 2019, and was our #2 cigar of the year. Not bad for a brand new cigar brand. Well once again we are the first to debut All Saints first regular production line: Dedicación. Like we said in December, chances are you've already seen All Saints founder Micky Pegg's work in the industry. That's because Pegg is the former VP of Sales at CAO Int., and has also worked for Felipe Gregorio and industry giant Davidoff. After departing from CAO, Pegg took a break from cigars and worked in wealth management. But it wasn't long before his two friends convinced him it was time to return with his own brand. Together they launched All Saints. Of his new cigar, Pegg said, “Dedicación is for every meaningful person in my life. From those working in the fincas to the families they support. And for the families in the States that support those guys that are on the road four or five days a week. And it’s for my mentors along the way like David Berkebile, Walter Gorski, George Brightman and, of course, Cano Ozgener (the late founder of CAO).”

Our Review:

Even pre-light, Dedicación has already began appealing to our senses. It's beautiful to behold: a rigidly box-pressed cigar with a dark, silky wrapper. Once lit and smoking, we were quick to notice this cigar wasn't too dissimilar from All Saints first release, Solamente. Since that cigar was our #2 cigar of 2019, that's a good thing. There are rich notes of milk chocolate, coffee and caramel from start to finish, but the one difference here is the lack of spice through the nose or on the palate. It's been replaced by a creamy vanilla flavor, and the medium-bodied smoke makes it appropriate for both a midday or an after dinner cigar. The slightly short finish is forgiven by a slow burn that results in a 1.5 hour+ smoke. Overall this is a rich, balanced smoke that won't overpower it's malty, creamy tasting profile.
