It's hard not to like this one. Unlike our previous blind tasting smoke (#92), this is truly a cigar made for smokers of all different tastes and preferences. You may not know the name, but if you've been a Standard and Twain member for a few months, you've become familiar with their cigars. In fact, our most popular cigar of last year, Atsiniki Tashka, was made by the guys from ACE Prime at Tabacalera Pichardo and from our blind tasting just last month, the Mil Dias from Crowned Heads, was also made at Tabacalera Pichardo. Yep, you could call them the best kept secret in the industry. Our cigar opinions don't always line up with the guys from the big magazine, but this time Cigar Aficionado nailed it: it's an absolute honey bomb. And while it's not the most complex cigar - the flavor remains pretty consistent throughout -but it tastes so good we're giving it a pass. About 2/3 of the way through the strength picks up a bit and we pick up floral notes and even flavor that resembles a light Scotch, like a Glenmorangie 10 year. But what we love most about this cigar is that as soon as it's done we're ready to pick up another and light it up. Truly a testament to the clean smoke and quality tobacco. As for ACE Prime, are looking at the next factory that lights up the cigar world (like My Father did several ago)? Only time will tell, but if it does you won't find us surprised one bit.
