When Ozgener Family Cigars launched at the 2022 PCA Convention & Trade Show, it marked Tim Ozgener's comeback to the cigar scene after 13 years. Before that, he was the president of CAO, a company his dad founded in 1977. In 2007, they sold CAO to a different Scandinavian Tobacco Group, and Tim led CAO until 2010 when General Cigar Co. took it over.
Aramas is Ozgener Family Cigars' first line crafted at Perez-Carrillo Jr.’s Tabacalera La Alianza S.A. factory. This isn't surprising, given Tim Ozgener's co-ownership of Crowned Heads, a company with a strong history of working with Perez-Carrillo.
"Aramas is an homage to my father, Cano Ozgener, his penchant for hard work, and his value for the relationships he cultivated in his lifetime,” said Ozgener. "We worked with Ernesto (Perez-Carrillo) on Aramas to develop a dense, complex, and rich blend, that also retained impeccable balance.”

There’s an oily sheen to the inky wrapper of this fat cigar, which is predominantly earthy. Hints of anise, white pepper and fresh tobacco turn musty on the finish. The draw and combustion are even. Score: 88/100
Halfwheel
The Aramas is one of those cigars where the final score does not tell the entire story. While I found the actual flavor profile to be enjoyable enough, the lack of any major transitions between thirds made the overall experience a bit less engaging than I was hoping. Having said that, the actual smoking of the cigar was absolutely fantastic, with virtually flawless scores for every aspect of construction. More overt sweetness would have done wonders for the blend, but if you are looking to try a medium-plus strength blend that features a distinct oak flavor along with amazing construction that you don’t have to think about once after lighting the foot, you should absolutely track this down to try for yourself. Score 89/100
