Cigar Reveal #255

RoMa Craft
Neanderthal JCF Segundo

RoMa Craft's Skip Martin set out to craft a cigar that delivered not only intense strength but also a rich complexity of flavors. Introduced in 2015, the Neanderthal cigar features a dark, toothy, and oily San Andres Maduro wrapper. Its binder, a Connecticut Broadleaf, contributes to the cigar's notable sweetness, while the filler blend combines Nicaraguan Condega, Esteli, Jalapa, Pueblo Nuevo, and Dominican Olor Ligero tobaccos. To achieve the bold profile Martin envisioned, RoMa Craft incorporated a Pennsylvania Double Ligero, also known as Green River Sucker One, adding the desired punch. The result is a robust, earthy cigar with layers of complex flavor.

Reviews + Notes

Kohnhed

Flavors are just as intense as earlier. The nicotine is on the wane. The full body strength is super smooth. Plain and simple, the RoMa Craft Tobac Neanderthal HN is a real crowd pleaser. The experienced smoker is going to love this blend. It is definitely too strong for newbies which is a shame because of the magnificent flavor profile. 94 points.

Leaf Enthusiast

Simply put, the Neanderthal is a damn tasty cigar with tons of complexity. It is a full-bodied blend while also being a very strong cigar. To be honest, I’m not sure if this is the strongest cigar I’ve ever had, but it’s in the top 5, I’d say. It might lose a little of its strength when aged extensively, but doing so might also put a damper on the flavors that come through, so I’d say…if you love a strong cigar that tastes great, too, you surely can’t go wrong with this one.

Cigar Dojo

The cigar has literally transitioned from meaty, smoky, and spicy, to sweet and spicy at the end, all while increasing in strength along the way. I smoked the cigar down to the point where it was burning my fingers to continue.
