Cigar Reveal #316

Espinosa Cigars
Knuckle Sandwich Habano

The Knuckle Sandwich line is a collaboration between boutique maker Erik Espinosa and celebrity chef Guy Fieri, a project born out of mutual appreciation for flavor, craftsmanship, and a bold personality. The Habano variant was released in early 2022 and produced at AJ Fernandez San Lotano Factory in Nicaragua. The name “Knuckle Sandwich” nods to Fieri’s catch-phrase and branding flair, signaling a cigar that’s meant to deliver a strong, flavorful “punch,” but with the careful blend-crafting of Espinosa. The Habano edition was crafted over about 18 months, reflecting a commitment to marrying complex tobacco artistry with a distinct, personality-driven brand identity.

Kohnhed

Small introduction in the schnoz and palate department but once lit, the cigar explodes with flavors of big dollops of malt, chocolate, espresso, creaminess, black cherries, cedar, black pepper, and graham cracker. The first puffs grab me by the nads and off we go…A sweetness appears out of the darkness…it has overtones of vanilla and rich caramel. The char line is perfecto.

Cigar Coop

If there is one thing I’ve been critical of with Espinosa Cigars, it has been the fact they have way too many Habano wrapper releases. At the same time, I do think Espinosa has done a good job at creating unique flavor profiles so these Habano releases don’t compete with each other. Perhaps the Espinosa Knuckle Sandwich Habano Toro H stands alone as the most unique of those flavor profiles. The problem is that I don’t think it is the best of those flavor profiles. Coming in at 88 points, it’s a good cigar but not on the level of some of the company’s other releases. Given the $13.50 price point, it’s one I would recommend trying a sample of first. At the same time, the blend is still intriguing enough for me to explore it with further aging and/or different sizes.

Blind Mans Puff

Bold and well balanced. There were some nice shifts, and enough complexity to keep it interesting through the end. I could easily smoke this again, though I would go for a little more food in the stomach, as it was fairly strong by the end.
