Cigar Reveal #324

AJ Fernandez
New World Cameroon

We've featured several iterations of the New World, but never this Cameroon wrapped gem. The New World Cameroon is an extension of AJ Fernandez’s New World series, first introduced in 2018 as the first Cameroon-wrapped cigar in Fernandez’s portfolio. The original New World line was designed to celebrate the history and diversity of tobacco cultivation in the “New World” of the Americas, blending premium tobaccos from AJ’s farms in Estelí, Nicaragua alongside historical nods to the plant’s journey. With New World Cameroon, AJ took that concept and married it to a Cameroon wrapper — a classic African leaf prized for its natural sweetness and subtle spice — bringing a new dimension to the series while retaining New World’s core philosophy of approachable yet rich flavor. It’s made at Tabacalera AJ Fernandez in Estelí and positioned as a well-constructed, everyday premium cigar with balanced complexity and broad appeal.

Reviews + Notes

Leaf Enthusiast

As with other installments in the New World series, the Cameroon Selection wasn’t the most complex cigar I’ve smoked recently. It was, however, very tasty the whole way, with a medium-bodied mix of honey, cedar, and pepper, along with enough earthiness to betray its Nicaraguan roots. All-in-all a very nice mid-afternoon interlude, especially for a relatively bargain price.

Stogie Review

If you like Cameroon wrapper cigars, or if you’ve ever had anything from AJ Fernandez that you enjoyed, you absolutely need to try this New World Cameroon. It’s phenomenal work that showcases exactly why Cameroon wrappers are so highly regarded when they’re done right.

Cigar Coop

One thing I will say right out of the gate. If you are looking for an aber-complex cigar with lots of flavor nuances and transitions, the AJ Fernandez New World Cameroon is not going to be the cigar for you. But if you are looking for a well-constructed cigar that scores nicely in the flavor department then this is the cigar for you.
