Cigar Reveal #335

Warped
Sarto

The Warped Sarto is a deeply personal project for brand founder Kyle Gellis. Named after his late Cane Corso, Sarto, who died unexpectedly from epilepsy, the cigar serves as a tribute to the loyalty and companionship Sarto represented. More than just a commemorative label, Sarto marks a turning point in Warped’s profile—it’s their boldest blend to date and their first production with Nicaragua’s NACSA factory (Nicaraguan American Cigar S.A.), known for edgier, fuller-bodied cigars. Gellis, long associated with Aganorsa Leaf and more nuanced Nicaraguan blends, wanted to explore something richer and more muscular without abandoning Warped’s elegance. The decision to use Connecticut Broadleaf—uncharacteristic for Warped—was a symbolic choice to represent strength and depth. Sarto isn’t just a dog’s namesake; it’s a shift in tone for a boutique brand usually rooted in refinement.

Reviews + Notes

Kohnhed

The Sarto passed muster. It finishes with assurance and style. Did it knock me off my socks? It did not. But I’ll take pleasant and composed all day long.

Score: 94/100

The Barrel Burner

The final third sees leather notes develop with hints of barley, ginger and sesame seeds with the latter lingering on the finish. The aroma of the cigar still stands out as we get to the final inch and I can’t recall a cigar where I was so fixated on the aroma. When we finally put the cigar down there is a subtle dark chocolate and an abundance of spice. My interest has been piqued and I am slowly returning the brands. The Sarto is another really good cigar from Warped and this company is once again worth keeping an eye on.

Developing Palates

I found the Warped Sarto Toro to be my favorite of the new releases from the past few years from Warped. The first and second thirds specifically had interesting and engaging flavor combinations that held my attention. The draw was perfect and the burn required a touch-up and a re-light to correct. While the price point is pretty average for the market in 2025, I think the flavor performance made this a standout release and something I will seek out in my travels. Total smoking time was 2 hours and 15 minutes.
