Cigar Reveal #223

RoMa Craft
Intemperance Volstead VO 1920

When RoMa Craft Tobac unveiled the Intemperance blend in 2012, it marked the introduction of their second brand, succeeding the CroMagnon line. According to RoMa Craft Tobac, the conceptualization of the Intemperance line is intricately linked to the historical context of America's endeavors to prohibit alcohol. Notably, the brand incorporates a logo that draws inspiration from a renowned artifact associated with the temperance movement – a propaganda poster and political print crafted by A.D. Fillmore in 1855, a notable figure in the realm of temperance hymnody.

Adding a layer of historical significance, earlier this year, the company made public its latest addition to the Intemperance line – the Volstead VO 1920. The nomenclature of this new blend pays homage to the Volstead Act, a legislative measure established to enforce the era of prohibition. This strategic expansion aligns with RoMa Craft Tobac's commitment to infuse their creations with a rich narrative, encapsulating not only the craftsmanship of their products but also the historical tapestry that influences their branding and conceptualization.

Halfwheel

From the first few puffs of the Intemperance Volstead VO 1920 Noble Experiment, I knew I was going to be in for a treat, and the cigar did not disappoint. Far from being either a powerhouse or a toned-down blend, the Noble Experiment is incredibly rich, excellently balanced and full of flavors, the Noble Experiment is a joy to smoke in just about every regard I can think of. In fact, the only issue I had with the cigar was the construction, which was somewhat of a surprise considering my normal experience with RoMa Craft Tobac creations. In the end, the Intemperance Volstead VO 1920 Noble Experiment is one of the most enjoyable blends in RoMa Craft Tobac’s portfolio, and I can’t wait to try the other vitolas in the line.

Chocolate, espresso, cashews, caramel, cinnamon, honey butter, salty pretzel, green tea, vanilla, and smoky cedar. This is a very good cigar ... Makes me happy that this is a regular production blend. Just shows you that good cigars can come from interesting and available leaves.

There aren’t too many brands out there currently that kick out stellar releases one after another like RoMa Craft. I honestly don’t think I have ever come across a RoMa Craft I didn’t just enjoy, but thoroughly enjoy and the Volstead VO 1920 is no exception. The flavor profile is balanced, yet complex enough to keep me entertained. The profile itself marries up really well with my subjective palate as I really enjoyed the flavors. The construction was top-notch and the price is very affordable and the full-production releases will always be easily available. This makes this a perfect, box-worthy cigar that will find its way into my everyday rotation.
