Cigar Reveal #338

My Father
El Centurion H-2K-CT

The El Centurion H-2K-CT from My Father Cigars is an extension of the original El Centurion line, which first debuted in 2007 as a limited release by José “Pepín” Garcia and later became a regular production line due to strong demand.

Introduced in 2015, the H-2K-CT version represents a meaningful evolution of that original blend. The defining feature is its proprietary hybrid wrapper, known as Habano 2000 Connecticut (H-2K-CT). This is not a traditional Connecticut shade or broadleaf, but rather a Cuban-seed tobacco grown under full sun in the Connecticut River Valley, developed specifically for this cigar.

The goal of the blend was to create something distinct from both traditional Connecticut cigars and the original El Centurion, offering a profile that is more accessible while still delivering the Garcia family’s signature spice and complexity. Blended by Pepín and his son Jaime Garcia, the cigar is produced at the My Father factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, combining innovation in wrapper cultivation with the brand’s established Nicaraguan tobacco expertise.

Reviews + Notes

Cigar Coop

The second third saw the wood notes remain primary. The citrus and coffee notes still made their way into the forefront from time to time, but primarily remained in the background. Meanwhile I saw some of the black pepper notes join the white pepper in the background. Toward the start of the second half, the black pepper notes displaced the white pepper and began to increase in intensity.

The last third of the H.2K.CT Box Pressed Torpedo saw the wood notes remain primary with the black pepper notes a close secondary note. I still detected some citrus and coffee in the background, but these were still more distant. This is the way the H.2K.CT Box Pressed Torpedo came to a close. The resulting nub was firm to the touch and cool in temperature.

Leaf Enthusiast

I really like this cigar. The Centurion H-2K-CT had a very pleasing flavor profile with a good amount of complexity and medium body until near the end. The complexity was decent, as well, with flavors increasing and decreasing along the way in a fashion that hit my palate just right. I would take this any day over the regular Centurion. It’s a fine addition to the My Father catalog and has a great price tag, to boot.

Cigar Dojo

For the price, this cigar more than delivers on the flavor end of the spectrum, surprisingly, it's the construction that is lacking. As always, this can potentially be fixed with further aging, but it was alarming that all of our samples required multiple touchups (at least 3 per cigar). I really love the look, feel, and size of this smoke, making for a nice hour+ of enjoyable flavors. The name doesn't exactly roll off your tongue and may be a little tricky to grasp the whole concept, but the flavors certainly don't lie. Interestingly, like its hybrid concept, I found the flavors to have the complexity of a habano, with the sweetness of a nice maduro.
