The Decenio was created by AJ Fernandez Cigars to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the New World line, one of the company’s most important and defining releases. The New World series, originally launched as a collaboration between AJ and his father Ismael Fernandez, helped establish AJ’s reputation as a leading Nicaraguan blender.
“Decenio” translates to “Decade”, and the cigar was conceived as a commemorative blend that reflects both the evolution of the New World line and AJ’s broader growth as a cigar maker. Rather than simply revisiting the original formula, the blend introduces a new combination of tobaccos, notably a Mexican wrapper and a multi-country filler, to create a richer, more mature profile while staying true to the brand’s “New World” theme of showcasing diverse tobacco origins.
Produced at AJ’s San Lotano factory in Ocotal, Nicaragua, the Decenio is positioned as a medium-to-full-bodied cigar that balances strength, complexity, and approachability; intended to feel like a step forward rather than just a tribute.
