Letters of Transit: Islay, Scotland (coming soon)
Peated whisky. You love it or you hate it. And if you hate it, don’t worry kid, one day you’ll come around. We’re talking the rich, smoky, dirty, salty flavors of Islay’s peated whisky. Ardbed, Lagavulin, Laphroiag. Bowmore.
For this particular project we needed to partner with a factory that specializes in a very specific flavor profile, just like these distilleries. And who better than the folks who produce the Mi Querida, Muestra de Saka, Red Meat Lover, and Umbagog for Steve Saka, owner of Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust. NACSA (North American Cigars S.A.) is one of the best and most respected factories in the world for making full-flavored, super-premium cigars.
For us, there was a bit of a feeling of “we’ve made it” when we finally partnered with NACSA. Wearing a gorgeous Broadleaf wrapper, this dense cigar is full of burnt sugar, molasses, oak and, yes, those beautiful peaty notes you love (or hate). Ron Swanson approved.
